My 13 year old nephew Nicholas Chambers wrote the words to this song and he sings it with his two little brothers Ray & Payton who are both 6 years old. the song is called " Make the Song Cry" and its about their little Brother Leo who passed away last year shortly after his birth. I redid the original video to go with this song.

A Soldier in Afghanistan calls home on his cell phone on April 21, 2008 to let them know he was doing ok. No one was at home so his parents answering machine picked up and he hangs up ( or so he thought ). Somehow, his phone redials his parents number or he never hung up to begin with. Regardless, the answering machine records the sounds of gunfire and their son yelling while he is getting shot at. It appears that their son came under fire shortly after he called home. You can hear round after round being fired. Their son yelling and other soldiers in the background yelling as well. At the end of the recording you hear him yell "INCOMING!! RPG!" and then the line goes dead. Can you even imagine what his parents and family members where thinking when they came home and heard this on their answering machine? Listening to this gave me chills as I remembered when Chris was in Afghanistan and he recorded a video of them in a bunker while geting attacked on the FOB. Thankfully this soldier is OK. This is a reminder that while you go about your day and enjoy the freedom to do it easily and without fear.... This is why. God Bless our soldiers... that they all come home soon.

This song is very special to me and my daughter. It will always be the number one tribute to soldier's song for us. When my daughter who was 7 years old at the time heard this song she cried. I asked her why and she said the song made her happy because the man was singing a good night song to her daddy. I wrote Derek Clark and told him how my daughter reacted to his song and last year he wrote me back and said that he wanted to use my letter in his new book " Never Give up" last December he sent me a signed copy of his book with the letter that I wrote to him in it. I will always treasure the book because that small section in it is a special tribute to the time my husband spent in Afghanistan and a testament of how much his daughter loved and missed him.

Every time I hear this song it makes me want to cry. I love the words and it makes me think of my friends daughter Carrie French who died in Iraq in 05'.

A heart felt song by these three soldiers who wrote this song while they served in this war. Dustin Evans sings it and I love it.

When my husband was deployed to Afghanistan this song made me feel better and proud when I played it loud. It got me through many long long days and nights because it brought my spirits up. I LOVE this song!
